Lady Highlanders Hold Back Cresbaugh Shayna Ericksen set yet another career high for herself against Sparta High School on January, 26th. She contributed to the game with 33 points and 12 rebounds which allowed WMC to beat Sparta 40-23. Julia Scanlon added 13 points as well for West Morris. Sparta was with in 8 points at the end of the second quarter due to Carey Cresbaugh's tremendous effort which allowed her to end the game with 15 points. The Highlanders are now 11-2!
WMC Secures County Position
The Wolf Pack made a statement to the Morris County seating committee by beating 9-2 Wallkill Valley. The committee meets on Sunday to award seating's for the county tournament. West Morris came out fast with a 16-7 first quarter. Julia Scanlon had great assists to Shayna Ericksen and Alisa Greco through out the game. Unfortunately, Ericksen and Scanlon got in foul trouble in the second quarter which allowed Wallkill to amount a comeback. With an exciting, competitive second half the Highlanders prevailed with a 47-42 win.  Ericksen Leads Wolf Pack Shayna Ericksen poured in 16 points in limited time to lead WMC over Morris Hills 58-36. The Wolf Pack increased its record to 9-2. Ally Tank also was in double figures with 10 points.
West Morris Shows Potential! The girls basketball team has played well against lower competition all year, however, they have struggled against top teams. Watchung Hills was predicted to challenge the Lady Highlanders in an out of conference match up on January 16th. WMC brought an outstanding defensive performance which allowed them to gain a lead 14-2 in the first quarter. Shayna Ericksen scored 18 points to help boost WMC over Watchung. Jessica Poole also added a great offensive performance with 9 points. Carly Shello, Ally Tank, Julia Scanlon, Jessica Poole and Alisa Greco all held true to WMC's aggressive defensive tradition allowing WMC to win 52-34.
Wolf Pack Thrashes Montville Alisa Greco shot 5 for 5 and scored 12 points in helping West Morris overwhelm Montville by a score of 53-12. Shayna Ericksen added 17 points while Mary Cabarle, Caroline Consol and Hailey Koop all contributed to the win with an all around solid game.
Highlanders Overcome Rams
West Morris defeated Randolph on January 12th, 2010 with a score of 47-34. Overall, the Highlanders ran a fast pace game due to their aggressive defense. Shayna Ericksen totaled 13 points and 11 rebounds to secure WMC's lead over Randolph. Julia Scanlon also added 10 points to WMC's total of 47. Jessica Poole and Alisa Greco both contributed two three's which had them ending with 9 and 8 points respectively.
 WMC Endures A Disappointing Outing To N.H. North Hunterdon used a suffocating 1-2-2 trap to create many Highlander turnovers through out the first half to take a 25-4 lead. West Morris added to the disappointing result by missing their majority of free throws and open shots. The team fought back in the third quarter with a 12 to 5 run, however, N.H. who was ranked 16th in the state at the time prevailed with a 49-22 victory.
Wolf Pack Wins A Thriller 5-1 West Morris prevailed against Roxbury with a 57-56 victory. The home team was lead by senior guard Cori Younghans with 35 points. The Wolf Pack had two 10 point leads through out the game, however, Younghans kept Roxbury close with some outstanding shooting. Shayna Ericksen countered inside for West Morris with 29 points and Julia Scanlon had a strong floor game along with scoring 19 points.
Lady Highlanders Win 5th Place In Bayonne! Playing for 5th place in the Marist tournament against the home team Marist the Lady Highlanders pulled out a 71-53 win. West Morris did not crack under the tough defense played by the home team and helped their teammate Shayna Ericksen set her new career high at 33 points. She also collected 13 rebounds. Alisa Greco and Julia Scanlon added 16 and 9 to take all hope away from Marist. Jessica Poole and Ally Tank also dominated on the court helping their team break Marists' aggressive press.
WMC Hustles Past Bishop Eustace Sophomore Shayna Ericksen obtained her career high of 27 points which led our Lady Highlanders to fly past Bishop Eustace. She also collected 14 rebounds. Alisa Greco added 9 points to help her team. Julia Scanlon and Jessica Poole supplied tremendous ball pressure to top off the well played game that ended 49-30.
West Morris Suffers Loss to St. Rose 2-0 West Morris took on St. Rose who was ranked 13th in the state on Saturday, December 26th. Shayna Ericksen and Ally Tank led in scoring for WMC with 10 and 9 points respectively. Carly Shello and Julia Scanlon added aggressiv e drives to the basket which helped contribute to WMC's 38 points. The final score was 62-38 which dropped WMC's record to 2-1. WMC Beats Pope John In Fierce Battle Shayna Ericksen led WMC to a win by scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. West Morris beat Pope John 58-49 at their home court. Alisa Greco added 15 points, 9 of those points coming from behind the arc to help beat Pope John. Julia Scanlon also contributed 14 points to seal the deal. West Morris moves to 2-0!  Red Bank Catholic Game Canceled Because of Snow! West Morris Wins Season Opener! Shayna Ericksen and Alisa Greco scored 15 and 14 points respectively to lead WMC to a victory over Morristown 65-26. Julia Scanlon played a great floor game while Hailey Koop and Carly Shello contributed off the bench with 6 points each.
WMC Wins Daily Record Team of the Year Award West Morris was honored as the Team of the Year by The Daily Record. Click here for the story. Coach Gavin was named Coach of the Year.   West Morris Comeback Falls Short in Loss to Shabazz The West Morris season came to an end on Monday, but not before they put a scare into the #2 team in the state. WMC lost to Shabazz 56-49 in the State Group 3, North Section 2 finals. West Morris trailed by as many as 24 points in the 3rd quarter before putting together a furious comeback to draw within 4 points. Shabazz led by 45-21 with 3:15 left in the 3rd, but with 40 seconds left, it was 53-49 before Shabazz was able to hit some foul shots to ice the game. That's an amazing 28-8 run against one of the best teams in the state. Great job by the girls, capping off arguably the best season in the program's history. WMC won a hard-fought game over local rival Voorhees 44-42 on Saturday, thanks to some last second heroics by Alisa Greco. In the final seconds, as Voorhees was trying to secure the rebound of our missed shot, Greco flew in, grabbed the ball and banked in a short shot as time expired. For the game story, click here. There is a Daily Record story here. This capped off a great team effort and put West Morris in the sectional finals where they will play Shabazz HS. The game will be played on Monday at East Orange HS and begins at 5:30PM so please come out and support the girls. Check the Directions page for details. There will be 2 fan buses leaving WMC at 4PM Monday for East Orange. MORRIS COUNTY CHAMPIONS!!!!! West Morris jumped out to a 19-8 lead over Hanover Park, thanks to a dominating inside play by MVP Emily Peel and Shayna Ericksen, and played with precision and heart the rest of the way to win the Morris County Tournament championship on Friday night. The team played one of their best games when they needed it most, leading WMC to their first MCT title since 1993. Hanover Park had no answer for Haley D'Angelo's court management and WMC also received a huge defensive game from Julia Scanlon, who shut down Hanover Park's star player Ashley Addison. Lindsay Foltanski hit a key 3-pointer in the first half as well and Alisa Greco's non-stop pressure defense wore down Hanover Park's guards. Congratulations, players and coaches!
